Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal was made by Shah Jahan in the memory of
his wife.It is situated at Agra. It is also called Mumtaz Mahal .The monument
is as tall as tall as a 20-storey skyscraper. Over 20,000 labourers took nearly
22 years to build it. The chief architects were Ustad Isa Khan Effendi of
Shiraz and his pupil, Ustad Ahmad Lahori. It is also one of seven wonders of
world.
The
Taj is a mix of a huge garden the entire structure is of white marble. It has a
huge pearl-shaped dome and four slender minarets. The tapering minaret tilts
away from the main body of the tomb. Marble screens, well-proportioned chhattris and pietra-dura inlay work add to the beauty of the monument. The
interior has the marble cenotaphs are covered with pietra-dura. Originally, the
cenotaphs were enclosed were enclosed by a gold railing which was encrusted
with pearls, rubies and diamonds. The gold railing was later replaced by a
marble one.
The Taj Mahal reflects the glory of Mughal
architecture. It is often said that the ‘Taj Mahal was designed by giants and
finished by jewelers.’
